My heart broke for him when he started talking about coming to terms with having played his last game in the NHL. It really highlights what winning a Stanley Cup really and truly means to these players. It makes me sad as a fan to think that a great player and person like him, even though he accomplished so much, never got that one last success. But also kudos to him for demonstrating what a humble person he is by realizing that for all the longing for a Stanley Cup win, being able to play in the NHL and have the opportunity to chase that dream was a win and a success in its own way.

Jarome Iginla was the very first (and for a very long time, only) player whose name I had on the back of my jersey. He is easily my favourite player of all time, and it's wonderful to see him recognized and celebrated by this franchise and his peers.

Thank you, Iggy!
