When I was at U of C some buddies of mine decided at the last minute to drive down to Salt Lake City for the Olympics. Of course there was no accommodation available. They bumped into Iggy at a restaurant there and told him they had driven down from Calgary. Iggy asked where they were staying and they said they were just sleeping in the car. Jarome somehow found and bought for them the last remaining hotel room in town, a deluxe suite. Amazing.
More personally, I will never forget during training camp prior to those 2002 Olympics Iggy being by far the most generous in signing autographs for those of us who turned up at Father David Bauer, even though he was one of the last to arrive for practice. Only a handful of others also did so (including Gretz and Mario).
As a player, what more can be said. That 2004 playoff run was one of the best times of my life, and the best hockey I've ever seen live.
