Who were the vets for Mcdavid? Ference, who was stripped of the captaincy for McDavid's his rookie year. Hendricks maybe for a couple seasons? Looking at the Oilers roster there isn't anyone who jumps out at you as someone that could help McDavid along. They would have been better off finding a vet or running with group (bunch of A's without a captain). It was a debacle of monumental proportions not having someone there for him and screams they think they are smarter than everyone else.

I know - they offered it to Sid like I said, and he said "I'm not ready". I don't think it would have mattered who was on the team.
I listed the vets: Hendricks, Pouliot, Sekera, Korpikoski. No, none of those were stunners, but heck, even RNH had a 4 years experience. I would have let him have it for a couple years (and I think he would know it was probably temporary).
