Missing out on Mark Stone also hopefully means they don't think too hard about dumping Michael Stone this offseason. They should be able to do that fairly easily considering what guys like Del Zotto and even Gudbranson went for

Agreed
Fenton did a nice job of ruining his reputation over the past few months.
Nino Nideritter for Victor Rask -> already looking like a huge loss
Charlie Coyle for Ryan Donato+1st -> initial thoughts this was a bad trade
Mikael Granlund for Kevin Fiala -> initial thoughts this was a bad trade
Jason Zucker for ? -> good chance we would have been pumped as Flames fans.
Ultimately the Flames not adding Hayes, Stone, Duchene etc and giving up futures has left the team a little thinner for this run but a lot more flexibility this summer. One big issue that may still impact the team is in net. Had this team gave up Valimaki, multiple 1sts and more for Stone it would have really been challenging to make that fit long term regardless. If Smith and Rittich falter in the playoffs that position could be back to priority one this summer. Having our future picks, prospects and structure allow more flexibility to make changes this summer and next year.
As a fan who is loving this season, took the day off to watch the deadline, and felt Mark Stone it r Kevin Hayes were the perfect fit I was letdown with yesterday. Treliving is usually good for some entertainment on this day. 15- Sven trade came out of nowhere, 16- Russell trade was a nice haul, 17- Lazar trade came out of nowhere, 18- nothing 19- nothing but got close to something pretty big.
While I was letdown it had more to do with the moment/day but long term I think it was fine this team did nothing. I am excited about our 4 young Dmen and Dube. I have no concern about signing Tkachuk, Bennett or Rittich while also having some flexibility to do other things this summer. Ultimately James Neal needs to wake up after this injury and be our deadline acquisition
