I was pretty disappointed at the lack of trades, but I think that’s just because of the excitement of the trade deadline. Add in the fact that Calgary was mentioned as a potential partner in just about every significant deal and you have a recipe for disappointment.

While a part of me did really want Stone (and it REALLY annoys me Vegas got him, screw that franchise), I am very happy to have four legit NHL defenseman at 22 or younger. How many teams can say that?

I still think we need a bit more depth up front but I think that will come in the form of a “hockey trade” with TJ Brodie being the main piece. I know he’s a bit of a whipping boy on here but he’s still a legitimate top-4 defenseman in this league. We could probably grab a really nice forward for him while opening a spot for a younger d-man at the same time. And who knows, I’m still not ready to write off Neal yet so maybe he could return to form? Whatever happens this team has a really bright future. Not sure this is their year, it could be, but I think this is just the beginning. I’m pumped to see what these guys can do in the playoffs!
