I'm not sure why it matters if he's "Better" than Bennett or Ryan or Frolik.

He's a useful player. Underrated defensively, one of the more productive 5v5 players in the NHL, and has offensive skills that a lot of this fanbase seems to ignore because they think streakiness isn't a thing (like Backlund isn't streaky? Like Tkachuk hasn't disappeared for a while? Where's Gaudreau's goal scoring lately?). His size is also of the functional sort, which opens up space for some of our smaller players when teams are clogging it up.

More importantly than any of that, he's an absolute beast on the forecheck and brings a combination of nearly Czarnik's speed and more than Neal's physicality, and he can shoot the puck with anyone on this roster.

I'm gonna toss this out there, these stats are strictly 5v5

Line A
659:19 minutes
53.11% unblocked shots
61.39% Goals

Line B
955:40 minutes
51.97% unblocked shots
61.78% Goals

Can you tell me which line is Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm and which line is Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland? Because those numbers are pretty damn close if you ask me. Despite one group playing for Peters and the other for Gulutzan.

So where would he fit?

Maybe you could even do

Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
Tkachuk-Backlund-Lindholm

and have a far more balanced top six.

Or maybe you could do

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Bennett-Czarnik

Hey, that looks like a better top 9 than our current one too. That third line would be an absolute nightmare on the forecheck.
