He gets ample PP time in PHI. Here he’s on the 2nd unit. Without Giroux, Voracek etc banking shots of him he’s a 10-15g scorer. So again, I think he’s Troy Brouwer.

I dunno if there are other stats you are looking at but the possession stats on hockey reference for him are ridiculously good. His Corsi and Fenwick are both 57 and his pdo is well below 100. If you're not a fan of advanced stats those indicate that the team generates a lot more shots than they give up when he is on the ice and the pdo says he has probably been a bit unlucky if anything this year. Granted yes he is getting way more offensive zone starts than d zone starts but I think a player like that might be a good fit with a d first centre like backlund.
Not saying there's no risk but it's not a brouwer situation because he walks in the summer, no financial obligation, if the acquisition cost is low I don't see a lot to lose.
