How much do you guys want to bet that next year Giordano repeats a Norris-worthy season, the roster is almost entirely healthy, we’ve got a point-per-game forward on an ELC, and are rolling into the playoffs as top seed?

Yes, the Flames window with this core will be open for a while, but there is a very realistic chance that this is the best shot this core will ever have.

So I say go all-in. I don’t care about the 30th-ish overall pick, or prospects who project to be good bottom 6 players.

Get a power forward, get a depth defenceman, and get a goalie. I’m glad Smith has strung together a few good games, but I have zero interest in relying on him even in a backup capacity, and getting a backup sounds to me like the best possible use for a throw-away draft pick.

Time to make hay while the sun shines.
