It does look really tight at first glance using your numbers. Bennett will cost less than $3M. Rittich will be around the same if they want to move forward with him. A veteran backup should be available for $1M. That leaves $6M for Tkachuk and nothing for anyone else. Thing is the Flames can move Frolik ($4.3M) and Brodie ($4.65M) to free up space. So now you have an additional $10M to play with. That is why it is so important to have a pipeline of good young players to step in and take positions from expensive mid-level players. Sky isn’t falling as bad as you portray for the budget or situation for next season. Downstream we run into some interesting challenges as our prospect pool is very thin and needs restocking.
