Oh oh!

Wild lose 2nd Straight Game

For the 2nd straight game the Minnesota Wild failed to step up to the plate…only this time the game was there for the taking.

The Wild took an early 3-1 lead on the Calgary Flames but fell apart, eventually losing 4-3. The Wild were badly outshot in the game but were held in the game with strong goaltending from Jocelyn Thibault. The Wild played with essentially the same lines as in Wednesday’s loss against the Sharks, and as such were without Willie Mitchell, Sami Kapanen, and David Vyborny.

However – the Wild should not use this as an excuse as the team they were playing is battling injuries of their own and were without Eric Daze and Marco Sturm.

For the 2nd straight game Head Coach Grant Farhall called into question his team’s character.

“The Flames tonight showed how you should deal with injuries. They came out and took it to us for 60 straight minutes. It is disappointing to not see the same level of commitment or effort from our players.”

Thankfully for the Wild reinforcements are on the way. Chris Gratton was acquired late last night for David Vyborny and will be in the lineup in tomorrow’s game against the Bruins. Sami Kapanen is also said to be very close to returning, but will likey be held out for one more game. Willie Mitchell is still about a week away from returning.

Game Notes

-The Wild got goals from Andrew Brunette, Brendan Morrison and Yannik Tremblay. Tremblay and Brunette both had two point games
-Matthias Ohlund was a –2 on the night and is not playing up to expectations.
-After the game the players held a closed door meeting to discuss their play in the last two games.
-Jocelyn Thibault is expected to get the start in tomorrow’s game.
