That's not exactly the way it works though, regarding cap space. Pro rated over approximately 1/5 of the season (after deadline) the Flames have 5.8M in cap space. Which essential means they can take on a 5.8M AAV contract.
So they have a little over 1M in cap space, x5. Which is essentially all eaten by Tkachuk potential bonus, which would come off next year instead.
Not sure why people who don't understand the cap make statements as if they do. I won't say those bonuses are crippling, but the would take nearly 1M from. Next year if everything is used this year
