On the business side of things, it is going to be a rough year for the Oilers next year. My company in Edmonton has a pair of Loge tables (8 tickets total, roughly $20,000 a seat) that we are rumoured to be giving up next year. I don't we'll be the only ones giving up seats.
Anecdotally, I have been offered company tickets on a much more regular basis this year. I'm a relatively low level employee in a 200 person company. If I'm being offered tickets on a regular basis, there is a lot of people passing on them.
I think the last remaining hope for Oiler fans is that the drop in ticket sales will push Katz to make a change. That somehow he hasn't been interested in winning this whole time and that once they start losing revenue he will change his ways. I think it's a fallacy. He's wanted to win this entire time, he is just completely inept at putting people in charge that can make that happen.
