Even Stone cost only a 3rd round pick and a conditional 5th rounder if he re-signed.

So, far that 3rd round pick for Stone is the most Treliving has given up for a deadline rental.
The fact he re-signed him shows that he made the move not thinking it was a rental and more likely a longer term fit so giving up the picks made sense.

Treliving has really only traded picks for guys with team control and with his history and knowledge of Stone he had a good idea that was a longer term fit.

I am not sure how he is going to do it and who will pay the price but if he makes a move for Stone I am confident he will be able to keep the player. That may cost the team someone else that we wouldn’t want to lose but I can’t see Treliving giving up a lot of futures for a short term player.
