In a 21-minute media scrum, Marcus Stroman criticized the #BlueJays front office for not signing more veterans and not offering him a long-term deal. His commitment, he said, is to Toronto and Canada, pointedly omitting a mention of the club he works for.

Could see this coming from a mile (or two plus years) away. First, he came into the league with a hot team, a contending one, so he got a taste of being close...had a guy like Price come in and mentor him and all was well. The Jays are 4 years away if all goes well, even with proper roster management (which I am not so sure in with this group) from being able to get there again, barring something totally unforseeen, and that doesn’t jive with him at this stage of his career.
Second, he’s got an ego and swagger. Nothing wrong with that to a point, but his expectations given the above, doesn’t mesh with the penny pinching financial approach, and the vague, two faced executives that are in place now.
Commitment to Toronto and Canada, while I believe he likes it,is a nice way of saying to fans, as he exits, it’s not you, it’s them.
