do take far more liberties than exposed players... but we wouldn't be playing the speed of game we are now if we didn't improve the safety of the game.
With not only the speed but the shots they're taking, these guys standing there facing the shots are insane. All I hear about as a counter to wearing one is breathing and looking dorky, but it just seems like an archaic ideology when you think of the easily avoided injuries that can happen out there.
There was a U18 game on and by the 2nd I didn't notice any longer that the players were wearing masks. It looks weird when there's only a few guys wearing one, but the first helmets were really odd-looking out there too. As far as breathing... I'll bet I'm huffing and puffing more than a pro by the end of a shift and I don't think I ever felt hindered by a couple bars.
Would be 100% on-board with players bringing masks into the NHL. My apologies for very off-topic, but I think about this all the time
Also... would high-sticking even be a penalty anymore...?
