He didn’t say he wasn’t staying, just that he’s going to test UFA, as virtually all players do at this stage.
I don’t recall any trade deadline player agreeing to terms with their new team immediately after the deadline.
Of course he likely has some preferred options, as virtually all players who test UFA have. But that doesn’t mean that those teams necessarily want him and can meet his asking price.
