That pressure point will go both ways.
The best negotiators are dispassionate and have a keen appreciation what is motivating the other party. Does missing games hurt Tkachuk more than the Flames? I'm not so sure about that. Nylander is just one example, and while it appeared to hurt his on ice play, it worked out well for him financially.
