2. I feel like I saw just as much Whalers gear as I did Canes gear. Cool to see Hartford get some love, albeit, sort of awkward as the history of the Whalers moving to NC is not a pretty one from a Whalers perspective.
3. This was my first Canes game and the crowd was...interesting. It wasn't a packed house by any means but there are a nice group of hard core fans that seem to really enjoy their team.
4. Saw a decent amount of Ferland jerseys, which was nice. A few Hamilton ones, but def more Ferland ones.
5. The 'tribute' to Peters/Noah/Doc/and Lindy was pretty pathetic. I wasn't expecting anything major, but they put something on the jumbo tron and maybe 10% of the crowd stood up and clapped. The rest didn't even notice or just booed.
6. There was definitely some heat in the crowd and people absolutely hated seeing Doc, and Lindy and Noah score. A lot of "are you effing kidding me" type comments.
7. Dougie and Ferly looked really good. Hamilton looked to be playing with a chip on his shoulder and seemed to be everywhere. I have nothing against him and it's too bad it didn't work here, so I want the guy to succeed but ugh, it seems like he's played his two best games of the year against us.
8. Brodie looked off. Brutal turnover that led to the first Canes goal and seemed to be fighting the puck.
9. Johnny looked ok, wasn't dazzling as much as he has been but also had some really good looks too. He also has a ton of buzz as the crowd was really nervous every time he touched the puck.
All in all--fun time and was awesome to see the boys win. I'd been on a tough streak with them going back to the last few years that I'd been living in DC.

I noticed this too and I think its a fairly common observation.
The fact of the matter is that the two games against Calgary will likely be Dougie's best of the season, but if he played with that kind of fire on a more regular occasion he'd actually be the player people have been thinking he is.
I've always been a fan of his, but hes one of those guys that if they're not bringing it then they're not doing much of anything.
Either one of the best players on the ice or more or less invisible.
