That really is the crux of the issue in Edmonton. They have very few draft picks and signings that punch above their weight class. There is almost no value on that roster. In a cap constrained league you need guys to outperform their deals to be able to compete.
Long term, this will continue to have a parasitic effect on the cumulative value of the franchise.
