Jankowski is only 24, it's not unreasonable to believe he has more to give. He has also become an exceptional PK option for the team. I don't think there is any sense in trying to convert him to a winger. If you want him to develop as a center then play him as a center.

Brassard on the other hand is on the wrong side of 30 and also gets filleted at even strength- more so than Jankowski. Rutherford came out and said he never embraced his role as a third line center and wanted to player higher in the line up. I'm all for upgrading the team, but this hardly looks like an upgrade. Especially considering it would cost an asset.

Not to mention Pittsburgh just traded him because he wasn't cutting it as a third line center on a contender.

You want a better option on the third line? Look at Schenn or somebody if they are available.
