Hmmm....I agree with most of this post, but calling Dube a fringe NHLer is a little early. He is a prospect who could turns out to fringe or he could turns out to be a star. I agree, Panarin is a star right now, however, we are essentially giving up for a rental. We might not be able to sign him, so the poster wasn't wrong to say that unless we win the cup, it's a lot to give up for.
Looking back in history, we gave up Hull who turns to be pretty damn good. Betcha at the time, people wouldn't know if he'll turn out good or not. But we won the cup so everything was ok.
Oh another player management thought was "fringe" NHLer and cut loose who went to TB and turned out pretty damn good as well.
