One obstacle is that his cap hit is $4.9M and there are four years after this one. If the Flames obtained him and then he failed to revitalize his career, that contract could be ugly.
Regardless, the Flames would have to send out money to fit him in.

Perhaps both players just need a change of scenery, and a trade like this could be a win-win-win situation. At worst, both players continue to disappoint but there are no additional cap implications, but at best, both could recapture their previous confidence and compete level.
