It really is a beautiful work of art. It reminds me of a joke I use frequently.
Two young fish swim by an old fish, the old fish says, “How’s the water today boys.” The two young fish swim on then one looks at the other and says “What’s water?”
The fans, team, & media don’t even recognize what they’re swimming in. “Something in the water?”

It is the water.

The media have no journalistic integrity, out of both fandom & fear of losing access to the team to generate content. The team will fight any critical assessment with lunacy, Lowe’s 2013 rant of winning as an example. The fans continue to buy tickets and license plates with blind support.

These all enable, support, refine, & backfeed each other to create the current situation.

It’s not surprising those two dolts laugh at & blame Toronto, it’s typical deflect & distract behaviour. Nothing to see here folks.

However, Shanahan has made Toronto a safe place to play. Sheltering players and their families, while using the media as an advantage. This is why Sam Gagner is playing for the Marlies. The Leafs realized that for fringe NHLers playing on the Leafs or Marlies even with marginal success is like being advertised to the hockey world at an elevated level. Tyler Ennis is another example. Every nickel counts in the cap era. If you can find even an $800,000 player & pay him $500,000 it all adds up.

These two Edmorons don’t even realize that Edmonton, with its unbridled ‘love you until we hate you’ attitude of fans, media, and management is a LONG WAYS AWAY from being a safe place to play for a player.

This is a big step from a proper diagnosis, let alone treatment.

It’s beautiful how they carry on and their results are entirely earned.
