Actually it makes perfect sense. CBJ weren't willing to drop as low as 6th because they didn't think they could get Dubois there. That was reported/rumoured at the time. There were also rumours that Tre was doing a deal with EDM to swap picks then flip the #4 to CBJ in a separate deal. At the draft he was talking to CBJ, then EDM then both together.

I might be wrong and it could have already been posted. But I have a hard time believing this trade for the fact that it was highly reported that IF a trade was to happen at the draft it was going to be a three way trade with Columbus.

The idea was that CBJ would switch from #3 to #4 so the still get Dubois, EDM would drop to #6 and get Sergachev and CGY would move up to #3.
