Ferland has been hurt quite a bit of late. I like the guy and would love for him to go somewhere that sets him up for a Tom Wilson like next contract.
I am not giving away a first round pick for him ... a 2nd maybe or 4th and a prospect. If there is high demand, he can go elsewhere. There is no logic to re signing him post playoffs and mortgaging the future for a Ferland in the playoffs isn't worth it. I really think he only has a few good years left in him.
I would love to see a trade structured as a first if he plays X games otherwise its a 2nd and when he gets here, have him take some serious time off to get ready for the playoffs. The decline in stats happen to also line up with when discussion of him being hurt or missing time was.
