GOMEZ LEADS KINGS OVER ISLANDERS
In the second game of the home-and-home series with the New York Islanders, the Los Angeles Kings returned NYI's favour at home, winning 4-3.
After surrendering the first goal, the Kings charged back, scoring the next four. Scott Gomez scored the first three of those for the natural hat trick. Darcy Tucker potted the fourth.
The Isles crawled to within one, but that would be all. Frustrated, Craig Rivet hooked Gomez in the shoulder, injuring him. The Kings will have to rely on Patrice Bergeron to fill Gomez's role while Gomez recovers from his injury, which is thankfully listed as day-to-day. Also, Mark Mowers will draw into the lineup.
As with the first game, the Kings wildly outshot the Islanders in the second period, this time 17-6.
Mika Noronen filled the LA net and earned his first win of the season, while Dan Cloutier rested up on the bench. Cloutier should start tomorrow night versus Vancouver.
Manchester fell to Bridgeport in the minors.
