Sure, they pushed it to seven games, but in the end, they still lost in the second round.

People forget how badly they were outplayed in games 1 and 2 in Anaheim. They were so lucky to be up 2-0 coming home.
And the Sharks were by far the worst playoff team. They had lost something like 10 of 12 to end the season. So many injuries. And they still took the Oilers to 6 games.
Any other team and the Oilers would have been out first round.
