McDavid + Lucic cap is about $18.5 million I believe. Let’s assume the combined cap hit of the two impact players going back to the oilers is $14 million. The goal for the oilers has to be to follow the mild of teams like Vegas, Calgary, Nashville, etc... to create a team deep with skill rather than having skill concentrated in only 2 players...
Am I way off-base with these kind of trades? I really don’t know TBH. I know Edmonton will never pull off a good trade and they’ll turn anything they get into garbage anyways because E=NG.

I don’t think there is any chance in hell that a team adding McDavid would ever concede to including Lucic. It will be difficult enough for a team to juggle the roster adequately to be able to take on McDollar’s $12.5 m cap hit. And then to add another $6.0 m of dead cap space? It will never happen.
Also, a team that trades for McDavid will need deep pockets. Both Carolina and Florida are budget teams. They are not in any position to take on the highest paid player in the world.
