Random Questions
So for those who don't know, I've only started cheering for the Flames in the Spring of 2015. I was a bandwagon fan then. I'm now a loyal fan.
I also happen to be fascinated with history, especially with regard to things that interest me. The Flames history, for example. That said, there have been a few random historical questions about this team that baffled me until today:
1. Why didn't the Flames call up Dion Phaneuf at any point during the 2003-04 season? Methinks his youthful energy could have been viable for the Flames en route to an actual Stanley Cup win. He could have added depth on the defensive end, too.
2. We could have used Jon Gillies in the Anaheim/Calgary series of two years ago. Looking back on it, I realized - why didn't he start in net for Game 2 (Chad Johnson was injured)? He was not the mediocre Gillies we know now. He was just one of the "future guys" at the time. And Elliott was (and still is) historically awful against the Ducks. Playoffs is all about making bold moves, eh? It could have been this. It would not mean much but at least the Flames showed they were ready to risk it all instead of hanging on with the shaky Elliott.
3. Have we used playoff towels at all?
Forgive me if I have to do this. I wanted to do this on Reddit but I came to realization that the old school fans probably prefer to read stuff here instead of Reddit. Them Reddit folks are mostly newbies IMO. And the timing is ridiculous LOL. But when you're so bothered by something, sometimes you need to let it out right?
Actually, wouldn't it be nice if we create thread devoted to several random thoughts on the Flames?
