Flyers Come to Life, Smash Canadiens
By Heywood Jablome
Sparked by some unknown and possibly "cosmic" force, the Flyers demolished the Monetreal Canadiens by a score of 8-2. The Flyer power play sparked itself going 2 for 6 on the night, and the penalty kill was spectacular going 9 for 9. Head Coach Cosmic Stan is credited for the improved penalty killing, a recent problem for the Flyers, buy making a few slight changes to the PK lineup.
Flyers GM Dan Lemmon was caught by this reporter as he was leaving the Wachovia Center tonight and said that he was "pleased with the teams performance, I just wish they could score 8 goals when Wanks is in net so we'd win those games."
The game started off with a bang as the Steven Reinprecht show started up, with 2 goals and an assist in the first 8 minutes of play as he paced the Flyers to the win. After the game Reinprecht said "I finally figured out what wood davers were. Coach Cosmic wanted me to score goals! After I scored the second one he bear hugged me and gave me his broken radio to hold for the game. He even tried to get me to hold onto it when I went back on the ice."
The radio incident was a cause for concern as Reinprecht left the radio on the bench to hit the ice only to have Stan throw it at him with a gleeful smile on his face screaming "wood daver!" He was ejected from the game, though not without a fight. He ran out on the ice to collect the radio, then had the linesmen and referees in a fit as they chased him around the ice while he yelled things like "The magnetic levitators wither with the spin potential!" and "Won't get my defector!"
Eventually with the help of several players from both teams and the officials Stan was sustained, lead off the ice and placed in his wagon where he was wheeled to the dressing room. He spent the rest of the game sitting in the wagon waiting for the players to walk by so he could shout "I like peppermint with my ducky!" as they passed by to the dressing room.
In other news, defenceman Shawn Heins has been cleared to play, but is expected to miss one more game before returning to the lineup.
