It’s a lose-lose situation for the oilers... as everything always is for them. If McDavid faked being sick and got caught... and who knows for sure. That picture of him after the Coyotes game sure makes him look like death warmed up. But here’s a couple scenarios that could go down:

1. They don’t say anything to him about it for fear of upsetting their golden boy especially when they are already probably afraid he could come to them any day demanding a trade. This continues the entitlement this franchise has given its young players for years and the problems it has caused. McDavid will know he can get away with anything and it will only get worse.

2. They confront McDavid about it and he gets upset. He’s probably too polite and shy to go crazy on management... but his agent would certainly be ready to do it for him. The agent flies in the next day and has a meeting with the oilers and gives them hell for demanding so much from him considering he is the only thing this team has going for it. For running his body into the ground every night with little to no protection even. The agent would probably remind them of McDavid’s demands when he was drafted and when he signed his long term deal at a “discount”... that they would build the team around him and make a “contender”. McDavid’s agent then tells them that if they say another word of criticism, he’ll pull out his phone and leak to Bob McKenzie and Elliott Friedman that McDavid has officially demanded to be traded.

I imagine the oilers to take option 1 in these two scenarios.
