Smith can have hotstreaks, basically the entire 11-12 seasons was a hotstreak for him. Imo, he has never played as good as that season since.
And just the dumb #### he does. Passes up the middle of the ice and trying to handle the puck like he’s Roy or Brodeur and then gives the puck up and leads to an easy goal or opportunity.

If they start Smitty and questionable goal committee chairman Garland plays, we may win!

Getting a point tonight would be a feat – Flames are very tough right now.
I posed the question before the NYR about personnel or system issues contributing to lack of scoring. I’m not sure what 3-0-1 with more significant injuries piling up says about that?
Hill needs to have more than a solid game tonight, but I believe the boys can at least put themselves in position to pick up point(s) tonight.

Funny if you go over to the Calgary thread they don't think so, even with 4 wins in a row.
They've won some games but seem to be giving up a lot of goals lately.

Calgary is #1 in the league in third period performance. 16-1 when leading after two . Six come from behind wins (five were at home). +37 goal differential.

Hill was awful, as was our defense. I couldn’t believe Calgsry’s Puck possession time. Night and day compared to yesterday.

Really underscores how bad the Oilers are. Just days ago people are posting up our schedule against "weak" teams. Which team (any) is actually weaker than us? We got slaughtered by LA Kings. Without all world performances from McD, Drai, Nuge this season this club is last in the league by a mile.

It's you. The Oilers get to play the team on the end of a back-to-back 6 more times than the Flames. The Flames also play 'tired' games 2 more times than we do. There are no excuses...we're that bad.

Yup. In fact, the Oilers play the most teams on the second half of a back-to-back in the entire league and it's not close.

Sickens me that the Flames are the 2nd best team in the league, while we have been in the bottom half of the league for decades.

That summer trade with the Canes really changed that team. Slotted players appropriately for sure. If they get the goaltending they are gonna do some damage.
