This is very much the kind of “going for it” we can and should be doing. No big splash, but low key solid pieces to solidify some areas of weakness. I’d be ecstatic if we acquire guys like the ones you mentioned.
I think, certainly, you need to give the Flames the best chance to win it all this year that you can, without doing any damage for the next handful of years. That means no 1st rounders, no top prospects, no big shakeups, just do what you can without those things. If that’s just a backup and a 7th D, go for it. If you can get a middle six RW, great.
Conservative plays are the right ones. We’re in an amazing spot, a little tinkering might push us into Tampa range.
