The NDP want a legacy project, so they've decided to turn the Bighorn Country into another Kananaskis, without wanting to do any public consultation. So under pressure, they schedule consultations, then cancel them due to "threats and public safety".

The B.S. part of this is that someone called Shannon Phillips out on the claims that the RCMP told her to cancel the meeting, and reporters have been trying to get the RCMP to confirm this, and the horse cops are like "Nope, we never received any reports of threats, nor did we recommend that these meetings get cancelled". What a joke of a government we have.

This isn't some NDP legacy project. The North Saskatchewan Regional planning was started in 2014 and the recommendations from the RAC were delivered before the NDP even took power. This is a continuation of long term Regional Planning, not some political move that came out of the drop of a hat.

Consultation was also not abandoned. They extended the length of time the online survey was available and switched to telephone town halls. The people voiced their concerns about a lack of face-to-face and the government listened and is making other arangements.
