I finally got to see Venom last night. Overall I enjoyed it, growing up Venom was one of my favourite comic book characters and I think they nailed the aesthetic, attitude, etc..

But what I didn't like about it..

All of a sudden this guy just starts killing people in his lab and only 1 out of 13 scientists aren't ok with this?

Then all of a sudden Venom goes from destroying the planet to wanting to save it because he likes Brock in a span of two scenes and one "i'm starting to like you" comment?

It was cool when he said "on my planet I am kind of a loser like you" and knows he can't beat Riot but tries anyway, we see that Anti-Hero that is alive in the Venom character. But they needed more bonding between Brock and Venom. It was really missing that for me to buy into the whole save the planet hook, which made the last act of the movie just.. not interesting. I wasn't invested.

I'd put this movie at a firm 5/10, entertaining and fun, did decent justice to the character, but had a few big gaping holes that made it really hard to stay immersed in the movie. Tom Hardy was great though.
