Well I watched Suicide Squad for the first time last night and I didn't hate it. I went in with super low expectations, but found myself thinking, "you know, if this was an animated movie, I probably would consider it half decent".
I did zone out a couple times, so I may have missed some things. There were definitely problems with it. The whole story was a bit of a mess, but the camaraderie built between the characters was enough to keep me interested. Got a little to melodramatic at the end for it's own good instead of keeping the pacing light and fun.
Robbie was excellent.
Smith seemed to have fun with it.
Didn't hate Leto the way everyone else seems too. Thought it was a decent take. I wouldn't have minded seeing him as the Joker in the overall DCU.
Boomerang made me laugh a few times.
Diablo was pretty badass.
Enchantress went back and forth. When she was her like black demon form she looked cool and menacing. When she was the odd, dancing, real/animated mashup of Delavigne with her funny hat, not so much.
Flag had some good moments of straight-man sarcasm, but also fell into some pretty wooden territory. There were times where he was almost keeping up with Smith but you could tell couldn't quite feed off of him the way better actor, or even a comedian, would have done.
Overall I thought the cast carried what is otherwise a pretty messy film.
I dunno. I'd sit through it again. Which is saying something . I haven't had interest in any of their films since "Martha". Wonderwoman was decent too, but the end villain was still uber lame.
