I agree with this. For a shot from that angle it wasn’t great save selection but he looked like he was hedging bets that D takes the shot away and playing the pass.
With Kane he was transitioning from VH to RVH (post pad up to down), at essentially the right time, and Kane’s timing of release and placement was perfect. A bit closer in and Rittich can continue to use his trapper forward to take away the vertical angle to the top of the net.
