That points list is actually helpful though, as guys like Pepper and Otto are pretty much on there due to longevity and not much more. And Gaudreau is clearly more skilled than Roberts and Reichel (though one could argue Gary's skills were just of a totally different kind).
I think the answer to this depends on what you're ranking. Skill? Leadership? Who you'd pick if you could only have one (but at their best, or based on their whole body of work)?
I've said before and will say again that Gaudreau is, for me, the most entertaining player the Flames have had since Fleury. I can't speak to players who came along much before that though - Loob was my first Flames favourite but I never saw Nilsson play.
Anyways, Johnny's damned good - not too many come along that are worth the price of admission on their own. I'd happily agree that he's one of the best already, and hopefully in contention for the crown by the time his contract ends.
