We've seen the potential he has, and I'll bet most of us feel the rough ECHL and AHL stats are more indicative of rough start than signs of his potential - but he's really just getting this year's season started with his return from injury.
2-0 since coming back (but then pulled Dec 31st after giving up 6...)
Dec 22 W 5-1: 0.969 (31SV on 32SH)
Dec 29 W 3-2: 0.951 (39SV on 41SH)
Dec 31 L 6-5: 0.806 (25V on 31SH) (Pulled for Gillies)
A little awkward...
I don't know where I'd stand on it... but does Parsons and Gillies factor into these decisions at this point? And if so... in what way?
One would hope that he isn't burning time on the bench, and he hasn't done much recently to instill confidence as a NHL 1B... but are the guys that drafted him high enough on him that they just need to see him turning the corner in the AHL to know it's worth a shot here?

Logged to propose exactly this.
Not like the realistic goalie options out there.
Of those mentioned, I like Lehner (but Islanders in the mix so doubt they would deal him) - I was hoping we'd sign him in the offseason, but reflecting it might have interfered with the emergence of Big Save Dave...
Bobrovsky would be the dream scenario but that cost would be way too high (OP stated he hasn't showed his Vezina quality play this year; however, he has been really good for the majority of his last 8 GP).
Back to Parsons, yes, he certainly could use more seasoning, more time to show consistency, but it's still the AHL level and AHL success does not guarantee NHL success. Goalies are so enigmatic. Perhaps, just perhaps, playing behind such a talented NHL squad as the Flames have, he might just show he belongs now, and could actually improve his confidence, development. It could be a shortterm experiment now and see exactly where ya stand come trade deadline...
The safest route would be to give Parsons more seasoning, but it could prevent Tre from having to give up assets to attain a goalie that has a high chance of failure...Maybe now is not the time to play it safe with Parsons...
But that's just me, and I admittedly find goalies the most difficult to gauge, at the prospect or pro level...
