I think it's over for Smith. Treliving needs to address the backup position with a trade because you can't expect the team to score 5 goals every time your backup is in the net. At this point there's really nothing to lose by keeping Gillies as the backup. I know the Flames have been trying to handle Smith's decline with class but too much is on the line. He shouldn't play another game for this team.
