#3 - broken play, not on the goalie
#4 - how much do you want Rittich to rotate out and stick a pad in the passing lane? No goalie in the league is expected to stop that.
#5 - yep. Thornton took a good shot through traffic.
Goals happen. Rittich played well and stopped everything he should have
Along with some good saves moving laterally and on odd man rushes

#1 agreed, just offering a 'what if Smith was in net' perspective
#2 also agreed, but the save was there to make was more the idea
#3 agreed, but that's a saveable muffin that found the net
#4 The way he plays, I think Smith actually has this (and it's a nothing play). To be clear Rittich shouldn't have to do this, but a stick in the way of that pass ends that and it was pretty much shot through Rittich's crease
It wasn't his best night, but to be clear I'm being critical of Rittich in the same way we're critical of Smith not making a point that Rittich almost cost us the SJ game. Just as an example that there are flaws in Rittich's game that we do notice - not just ragging on Smith for the sake of it.
