I glaze over GTs, but I'd call it out if I saw it right there with you. The difference is that Smith and Rittich haven't earned the same tolerance for 'goals they could have had'.

Seems like an odd thing to come in here to post specifically, but I more look at what people are talking about outside of GTs. I think it's mostly those on the other side are pushing that POV, outside of a few reactionary posts in GTs

I think, in general... a lot think Smith is a bad goalie and Rittich has been good. In games like SJ, you'd like for him to have made life a little easier but he's earned a bit of leeway.

But, TBH...

#1: You'd like for him to have more awareness of #52 right there... but that's a good goal if you're going to let him sit there. Smith lets that same goal in, and I'd hope the commentary is similar

#2 You want him to have that. It's a big shot from a big shooter. I'm sure that would draw quite a bit of ire from fans if Smith was in net - but it's a big save you hope your goalie can make. Rittich vs. Burns and Burns won. I think Rittich and Smith would tell you they want that back

#3 Gio was rightfully pissed after this one handcuffed Rittich, and I won't pretend for one second that this wouldn't have lit the candle for a lot of people. Rittich also wants that one back. It's a weird muffin that found the top corner around Gio. Shouldn't hit the back of the net often

#4 No one should be sitting on that post that open, but that is a nothing play if Rittich doesn't let a pass by him there. I'd have the same to say about Smith

#5 Jumbo Joe just beat Rittich. There was traffic, but that's something you want your #1 to limit

If the Flames don't score 8, this one is a L on Rittich.

However, the mindset is more 'give him a night off' than 'will this guy ever be a positive'? Changes tone quite a bit, and I'd hope the GT mirrors what we all chatted about at home.
