That's what I expected (though with the DOPS, you never know!). Hit was milliseconds late at worst. Stajan got rocked a bunch of times while not keeping his head up, and I argue that a couple of those were even later hits.
As for it being 'predatory', of course it was. In my opinion, every big hit is predatory. You don't need to throw a massive hit to separate a player from the puck (especially when the player no longer has said puck). That's just the nature of the game - it is a tough, physical game that every so often has a huge hit within the confines of the rules. That's why players sometimes have to fight after a big hit, even if it is clean. The NHL wants more of these hits to happen. Direct head shots? That's what they are most concerned about stamping out.
