I agree with you in principle, it's tough to tell your players to turn it off. Particularly when the game is already emotionally heated. But it was an unnecessary and late hit and If it was reversed most here wouldn't like it.
It's much ado about not all that much though. It was a clean hit to the chest and the player wasn't (or at least shouldn't have been) in a vulnerable position. Getting bent out of shape over this type of hit is a waste of energy imo.
