Radim Simek and David Rittich meeting again.
In 2016, Simek's HC Bílí Tygři Liberec swept Rittich's BK Mladá Boleslav in the Semifinal. Liberec went on to win the Czech Extraliga that year.
That season and playoff run for sixth seeded Boleslav got Rittich noticed by NHL teams and got him signed by Calgary. Simek would play one more year in the Czech Extraliga before signing with the San Jose Sharks, and playing last season in the American Hockey League.
Fun fact, Roman Cervenka was the leading scorer of that league in that season

It's only a one goal game, but the Sharks really need to start moving those legs. Continually getting stuck in their end because people don't want to do the leg work to get pucks out. Just reversing pucks down low over and over hoping someone else will do it.

Just got home for the last minute of the first.
When I saw 3-1 score and Dell in net, I thought DeBoer already yanked Jones and u guys would be lighting up Jones in the comment section. Nope. Dell started and you guys are totally cool with him giving up 3 in the first period. As a matter of fact, so far there are 3 positive comments about Dell’s goaltending and 1 negative.
Jones hate was strong in 2018. Can we all be more realistic about the Sharks defensive problems in 2019?

just nothing but puck watching. that 4th CGY goal (Tkachuk) Hertl jumps on the ice and has Tkachuk up high in the zone and then he just stops skating and lets Tkachuk make a beeline to the front of the net. i know he probably thought EK65 was gonna switch, i don’t know if there was communication or not, but EK65 was already up higher than him checking the puck carrier. Hertl didn’t do anything, whereas EK65 would’ve had to do some serious skating to get back and cover Tkachuk.
Timo and Simek were busting ass to get back after Vlasic’s bad pinch, but Timo doesn’t even look to pick up the CGYtrailer while he’s got to see Simek out in front of him going for the puck carrier.

I think with even league average goaltending we would have taken the game. Might be 5-2 with us ahead.

we are not good enough, sure we can beat mostly middle to lower grade teams but we tend to #### ourselves against some of the better teams out there.
I fear that we will forever be that one team that is basically the hockey equivalent of those mini bosses that show up in the middle of the level before the actual boss shows up.

Well, as the new year is less than two hours away, my 2019 Oilers resolution is I'm done watching the games for this season unless it's a BoA game or until Chiarelli is fired. 5 points out of WC2 and 5 points from last in the WC and trending downwards so we know where they will sit in about 2 weeks. I'll still post here because I enjoy the discussion but I've soured on this team dumbass has built. All the Oilers gear I wear is getting packed away, I'm too embarrassing to be seen out in public with it, again.
What has come to fruition is how many posters said "Not even Scotty Bowman could coach this roster to a playoff spot". With Hitchcock being #3 on the all time list and the active most winningest coach (until Q finds a new gig), its so true. He isn't Bowman, but close enough.
I didn't think anyone could **** up this hard with the gift of Connor McDavid and Chiarelli has managed to do just that. He should be absolutely ashamed of himself but he thinks he's done a great job and its the players fault.
He has completely broken my hockey fan spirit. I never imagined after 4 years of McDavid and Leon (Nuge too), the team would still be a compost heap of rotting slop and decay around them.
That said, for you New Years revellers, have fun tonight and be safe out there.
