Depth players on good teams have value. Stone is only #7 here because we have tremendous depth on defense. He’s a 4-6 guy on a chunk of the teams in the league. Frolik is a solid 3rd line winger on most teams and would be a top two liner on the weaker clubs. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that their value has massively dropped just because the Flames depth got a lot better.
I doubt we trade Frolik, he’s valuable to us. Stone I could see going if the entire defense gets healthy at the same time but it’s easy to imagine us keeping him as well.

I am ha I gotta a hard time believing a guy that has been a healthy scratch this year on several occasions carrying a $4.3M cap hit is more valuable to us than the cap space we will need to improve the team next summer. Frolik has been mediocre going back to last season and if we can cut bait with him now we should do it. If we can get back a pick and have the cap space that would be great, if we can take back a cheaper contract and get a potential really useful player (Petan for example) then I would do that as well.
I don’t think Stone is a 4 on any team that is more than a bubble team. At $3.5M he is a highly paid bottom pair Dman.
If you could trade both for guys that will be UFA this summer then I would be all over it.
