I hear you but they’re not adding any value to a trade. Yes you could include them in a trade where you’re giving up picks, but if you didn’t include them, the deal still gets done. You’re doing it because you need to move the salary not because the other team covets them. And your trading partner knows this. Their value as borderline NHL players is relatively low and lowered by their salary commitment for next year.
