Cool fact about California population fluctuation. California has become unaffordable for most people. Those that have job mobility use it to set themselves up for the rest of their lives. We have lots of California ex-pats in our neck of the woods and they were all able to sell their homes there, move to AZ in a nicer, bigger home, and have half a million to a million dollars cash ahead of them. Do they miss California? Yes. But they have half a million to a million reasons to accept the move and enjoy their life. Same story happens all over the southern US. People are migrating from the expensive more liberal states to the cheaper more conservative states, which in turn is making those states more liberal and less affordable.
