I like attempting to assess these suspensions because its as unbiased as im ever going to get.
Im in the same camp as everyone else.
I'm guessing the deciding factors were blindside and head contact (sorry cant see DOPS video on my phone) Guy was injured, and it looks pretty bad.
Where it starts to breakdown is comparing it to Backlund. It wasn't blindside on Backlund, but he was in a vulnerable position. NHL said the hit was clean, despite a concussion. I guess it just boils down to blindside vs player putting himself in a vulnerable position.
Where it really breaks down is the flying elbow to the head from Kunitz.
