I don't know if a charm campaign is going to work this time, or a Sunny Ways style campaign. I think that Justin has given a ton of ammunition to be used against him.
But lets look at the problem. Right now all the leaders suck, Scheer, Trudeau and Singh are all in my mind terrible and bad choices to lead this country over the next four years. The Conservative plan seems random. The Liberal party performance across the ministerial level has been for the most part terrible, and the Federal NDP is gonzo. |

No this isn't going to make companies fight back, its basically made them throw up their hands and move on to invest their funds outside of the company. The biggest concern is that Bill C-69 allows the process to be hijacked by various groups. It also allows a single point of veto by the Environment Minister instead of debate by cabinet which means that there's no possibility of honest debate of the merits based on anything but the Ministers desires.
When you have CEOs of the companies that have interest in building pipelines basically stating as one that if this bill goes through that they're done wasting time and money in even looking at or bidding on projects its a industry segment killer.

The Energy Minister out of Edmonton is probably going to see some serious blow back over this current plan, especially since Rachel Notley wasn't onboard enough to show up at the press conference and then pretty much blasted the government for not listening to what Alberta wants/needs.
The sad thing is that Alberta and Saskatchewan are probably going to go full PC, I don't know if Ralph Goodale is going to run in the next election.
But even with that, it barely moves the needle in terms of deciding who forms the government.

The likely path is to hunker down, continue to cut non essential spending and personal and hang on to their butts.

There is nothing in his past that has shown that he is capable? There is nothing in his past that shows that he's anything but tone deaf. (double dipping as a MP, and a poor attendance record as he skipped work to do paid appearances).

There's no patience for another 4 years of Trudeau rule in Alberta and Saskatchewan. The reaction to the tone def bailout is a prime indicator of that.
From basically a historical standpoint, a Liberal Majority win is really going to enrage these two provinces, especially since they will likely have hostile anti federal governments in place.
I hate to say it, but part of me wants to see what happens.

They actually are coming off of a period of a strong global economy, the economy has grown, even though its slowing down and the deficits are getting worse(based on his mild deficits promise) instead of better, they also raised taxation, and the deficits continue to soar.
In 2016 the deficit was 17.8
In 2017 the deficit was 28.5
The deficit this year was originally supposed to be 19 billion but the Auditor General report says its more likely to be about 26 billion
So whether its twisting the original quote to just the budget will balance itself, its a wrong statement.
